“Bring Out Your Dead!” (Yep… it’s been one of those weeks.)
Sorry it’s been almost two weeks since I posted. Most of us have been flat on our backs with this “Omega Flu” virus for over a week. It’s a really vicious, gastric-type flu that we’ve been trying to keep away from the grandbabies and others all week.
Our daughter, Naomi, has been really ill, so Lynne has been caring for 3-month-old Loughlin for a couple of nights — but now she’s showing early symptoms, too, so Loughie is back home again today. I had to take Naomi to the emergency ward just after midnight with crippling stomach pains. Waited over four hours for a doctor (it was a quiet night!). Looks like gallstones, just to add to her woes. I picked it straight away, having suffered the exact same experience more than a decade before. Took the doctors another three hours to agree. Guess they were just being thorough. (I hope it wasn’t a case of pig-headed professional pride.)
I’m beginning to eat again today and I’m not so debilitated. I even managed a quick trip to the mall for some essentials this afternoon. The hot weather was really pleasant after the cold week just past. I’ll spend the weekend relaxing and sleeping and see how I feel Monday about resuming work. I’m actually feeling like working, which is a pleasant change.
Take care of yourselves. Keep your immune systems tuned up. This is a seriously ugly strain of flu virus.

Hi John
Very sorry to hear that you and your family have been laid low by the virus.
I keep my immune system top notch – seems you need to follow your own advice
Get well soon – Eric
Hi Eric,
Actually, I do. I wasn’t nearly as ill as the other family members. In fact, much of the lost time was spent caring for them and all of the consequent issues that that entails (like juggling phone calls, running errands, shopping, taxi service to doctors, feeding babies/children, requests for information, etc etc etc).
I rarely come down with infectious illnesses. Most episodes of ill-health in the past 7-8 years have been directly related to my degenerative neurological conditions, which have nothing to do with my immune system.
John
