Prefer to listen? Podcasts are coming!
If you’re like me — getting old and your eyesight is deteriorating like the rest of your faculties — it can be easier to listen to content than to read it. And since I have a strong commitment to my own generation — the Baby Boomers — it was an obvious next step to make all of the posts on this blog into audio podcasts that you can subscribe to, free of charge, at the iTunes Store (in iTunes application).
Download and play them on your computer, your iPod, your iPhone or whatever else you use to play your favourite MP3 files.
They’ll begin appearing later this week in the iTunes Store. Look for this podcast artwork (left) in the catalogue/directory.
The beauty of subscribing through iTunes, of course, is that future podcasts are downloaded automatically to your device. How easy is that? And you can set an automatic deletion time frame so you don’t choke your device with old files.
I’d appreciate your feedback on whether you’d prefer a weekly podcast with two or three posts, or individual podcasts as posts are put online here.
What about video podcasts?
Video chews up bandwidth and storage space… and battery life. I don’t use a lot of images in my blog posts. Sure, I always try to include a relevant image to make the posts more visually interesting but, quite honestly, there’s no real justification for it in a podcast — and who wants to spend time staring at my head talking?
Besides, a lot of people listen to podcasts in their cars or while jogging, walking, exercising, shopping, etc. Video isn’t convenient in most situations.
When I do have something that requires video, I’ll put it online at http://viddler.com and let you know. If people would like it as a podcast at iTunes Store, I’ll make it available there as well.
